EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
ATHLETES WITH DISABILITIES HALL OF FAME
DESCRIPTION
The Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame, a non-profit organization established in 1999, is currently accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director will be responsible for all operational duties of the Hall of Fame. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: facilitating the nomination and election process, marketing, public relations, development, sponsorships, event planning, promotions, and day-to-day management. The Executive Director will report to the Executive Board and will be responsible for keeping all Directors, Committee Chairs, and Advisory Committee members informed regarding the Hall of Fame's progress and developments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Executive Director will be responsible for all operational concerns, including:
- Elections
Working in conjunction with the Nominations & Awards Committee, the Executive Director will oversee the entire election process, including the compilation and distribution of nomination forms, the organization of the Selection Committee, and the actual voting process. The Executive Director will also be primarily responsible for the production, distribution, promotion and display of the awards and plaques created by and for the Hall of Fame.
- Sponsorships & Development
Working in conjunction with the Income Development Committee, the Executive Director will seek and develop sources of funding and support for the organization, including new fund-raising opportunities such as raffles, auctions, etc. and the development of membership programs. The Executive Director will be responsible for coordinating and soliciting sponsorships, grants, and other sources of revenue.
- Annual Induction Ceremony
Working in conjunction with the Induction Ceremony Committee, the Executive Director will be primarily responsible for all details involving the annual awards ceremony and dinner, including the sale and distribution of event tickets, serving as the primary liaison with guest speakers and Honorary Chairpersons; making audio/visual arrangements; printing and distributing invitations; handling all details with the caterers and venue; and coordinating the sale and distribution of event tickets.
- Events
Working in conjunction with the Special Projects Committee, the Executive Director will be primarily responsible for all details involving all ADHOD-sponsored and third-party events benefiting the Hall of Fame.
- Publicity/Promotions
Working in conjunction with the Marketing Committee, the Executive Director will promote the Hall of Fame by generating interest through the media and initiating promotional programs in collaboration with civic, community and charitable groups. The Executive Director will develop a regularly-published newsletter to reach potential supporters and enhance awareness, will maintain the Hall of Fame's web site, and will be responsible for coordinating ADHOF's presence at community events.
- Scholarship Program
Working in conjunction with the Education & Scholarship Committee, the Executive Director will develop, oversee the Hall of Fame's scholarship program and related educational initiatives.
- Awareness Campaigns
Working in conjunction with the Mentoring & Awareness Committee, the Executive Director will coordinate appearances by ADHOF members for school and community awareness programs, and will supervise development of the Hall of Fame's "No Limits" Mentoring Program.
- Day-to-Day Management
The Executive Director will be responsible for maintaining the recognized "official" offices of the Hall of Fame, including normal administrative duties, correspondence, record-keeping, etc. of the organization. The Executive Director will work with other committee chairs, including the Strategic Planning Committee, to meet short-term challenges and establish long-term goals.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidates will have exceptional organizational and communication skills. Consideration will be given to professionals with fund-raising experience. Experience with a non-profit organization, a community-based program, or experience working with groups representing the disabled helpful. Seeking individuals willing to make a sincere and enthusiastic commitment to the disabled community.
